Brexit and purchasing from Susan Crawford Vintage

Here at Susan Crawford Vintage we have been fortunate to have wonderful customers all over the world and in many of the EU member states. The changes in customs legislation between the UK and the EU requires us to change the way we deal with orders received from the EU but we are doing everything we can to ensure the process is as simple as it can be in the circumstances and we hope that you will bear with us and continue to purchase from us during this complex period.

Please read the information below carefully for clarification of new trading arrangements:

On the 1st January 2021 the UK left the EU. In accordance with the deal agreed between the UK government and the EU, EU customers purchasing from our online shop will no longer be required to pay UK VAT and will therefore not be charged UK VAT (20% rate). Items in the store will will still show the VAT inclusive price but on checking out the VAT exclusive price will be shown which will be 20% less. This only applies to physical goods on which VAT is applied in the UK. Please note, books do not attract VAT and therefore the price will remain as shown on the website.

Please be aware however that EU customers buying from UK stores are likely to be charged the relevant local VAT / TAX / DUTY on the goods when they arrive at their destination. Please read our page on Shipping for further clarification. Our courier may contact you prior to delivering your parcel to arrange payment of any VAT/Tax/Duty or other fee.

Digital PDF patterns have different tax regulations and we will still need to charge VAT on these based on the rate of VAT in the purchaser's country. It is then our responsibility to pay this VAT not the purchaser. This scenario is the same as on ravelry.

All goods from Susan Crawford Vintage are manufactured or substantially processed in the UK or the EU and as such should not attract any additional duties.

We are now also required to provide customs information on parcels entering the EU so it is essential customers provide a working mobile or landline telephone number on their order in case our courier needs to contact them. These new customs procedures may result in parcels taking a little longer to arrive for the initial few weeks. However we hope that all will be working smoothly very soon.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
